Covid-19 has put the entire travel industry in uncharted waters. With people being locked into their homes for many weeks, app usage of major travel and mobility services plummeted.
But slowly, the recovery mode has set in. And some travel modes are returning quicker than others, as our Travel and Mobility Category Heatmap for Germany shows. The bicycle, for instance, has proven to be crisis-resilient with app usage returning to almost 2019 levels. A similar trend can be witnessed for car-sharing apps while most other categories including public transit and the classic travel segments such as hotels, airlines, as well as tours & activities are still down dramatically.
